Our Process
Handcrafting for the future.
Théla works with plastic waste – discarded plastic carry bags, garbage bags, food packaging wrappers and large sheets used in agriculture – to handcraft our circular fabrics.
From Waste to Yarn...
Retrieving
Discarded plastic is collected locally from garbage bins, streets and waste collection points.
Washing & Drying
They are then washed, removing all the stains and hung on a line or laid flat to dry.
Cutting & Balling
The clean plastic is cut by hand into yarn and wound into balls.
To Products that are Sustainable and Fair.
Handcrafting
The yarn is finally crafted using two techniques – crochet and weaving.
Tailoring
The plastic fabrics are tailored under fair trade conditions into fashion and lifestyle accessories.
Drumroll!
The final product is as sustainable as it gets - upcycled plastic fabrics in combination with natural, vegan materials.
